Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke says he’s resigning at the end of the year. Public Lands Council Executive Director Ethan Lane says his group worked well with Zinke and looks forward to working with whoever President Trump nominates to replace him.

Some possible successors to Zinke include Deputy Director David Bernhardt, and two politicians that lost election bids, Nevada Senator Dean Heller and Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Lane says any of those candidates would do a good job if nominated and approved.

Lane says whether or not Bernhardt gets the job or stays on as Deputy, they’d back that and look forward to working with him.

Zinke has been opposed on several issues by environmental groups and Lane says he’d possibly face more pressure from a new Congress which includes a Democrat majority in the House.
