The Trump administration is in the process of rewriting the Endangered Species Act rules. Public Lands Council Executive Director Ethan Lane is pleased they’re moving forward with that. He says their major concern is the critical habitat portion of the Endangered Species Act that was put together when Barrack Obama was President.

He says designating areas as critical habitat that potentially support the species leads to ridiculous scenarios.

Lane says besides weighing in with the nation’s Governors, his group is also working with members of Congress to bring more positive changes to the Endangered Species Act.

Lane says the ESA has had a negative impact on rancher’s private property rights and has extended all across the country impacting many landowners.
