The Public Lands Council, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and American Sheep Industry Association are hailing House passage of the Manage Our Wolves Act. The measure delists the gray wolf from the Endangered Species Act. PLC Executive Director Ethan Lane says the listing isn’t needed anymore as the wolf is fully recovered.

American Sheep Industry Association Executive Director Peter Orwick says House members made the proper move in passing the legislation as state’s can control the predator better than the federal government. He also says when wolves are listed it adds to the costs of controlling all predators.

Lane says wolves are difficult predators to handle and cause a great deal of livestock deaths and costs to producers.

Both Land and Orwick say the next step is for the Senate to follow suit with the House measure and delist the gray wolves from the Endangered Species Act.
