The South Dakota Legislative Planning Committee spent several hours at their meeting this week talking about performance and benchmarks for state agencies.
Representative Jean Hunhoff of Yankton is a member of the Government Operations and Audit Committee and the Appropriations Committee.
She says both of those have been working on benchmarking for some time…
There was a sunset process in place for about ten years. Agencies would be selected by legislators, and then had to explain their mission and accomplishments. Hunhoff says that process really didn’t give them performance indicators…
