The Turner County South Dakota Planning and Zoning Board is waiting to hear from Sonstegard Foods on their request for a conditional use permit. The Sioux Falls based company wants to put up an operation near Parker South Dakota that would eventually lead to them raising 6 million birds. Planning and Zoning Board member Ron Globke says the soonest Sonstegard could request a permit hearing would be in March.
Globke says he’s looked at one of Sonstegard’s facilities in Iowa but has yet to make up his mind about whether or not he supports or opposes the project near Parker.
Globke says if his Board approves the conditional use permit, then anyone opposing the project would have 30 days to appeal that decision to Circuit Court.
