A regional cattle processing plant planned for Council Bluffs, Iowa is expected to benefit from the Biden Meat and Poultry Supply Chain Action Plan. Chad Tentinger, founder of Cattlemen’s Heritage says their 400,000 head facility will definitely get a financial boost from the $1 billion earmarked for expanding the footprint of independent processors.

He says their project is on schedule and will be completed by late 2023 to early 2024.

Tentinger says their approach is different because they want to put a face on their product for consumers and give small family farm feeders a spot to sell their high quality cattle and get rewarded for it.

He says they are still trying to determine if they will sell direct to consumer or via internet.

Tentinger says their goal is build the facility and not be bought up by one of the four major packers in the nation.
