Thousands of Sioux Falls area consumers are leaning more about farming and food production as they tour the Pipestone Discovery Barn. Organizer Sylvia Wolters says last year was the first year for the ag education center and it was a huge success.
Wolters says the most popular attractions at the barn last year were the dairy calves and the sows giving birth. She says they’ve added a few new ag educational activities.
Roger Scheibe with the Midwest Dairy Association says consumers can also have a milk shake at the Dairy Bar as they learn more about the dairy industry.
Farmers will be on hand all week at the Discovery Barn to answer questions about agriculture and help put a face on farming.
