Trans Canada marked the movement of one billion barrels of oil through the Keystone pipeline this week. The line, which crosses eastern North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas went into operation in 2010.
They also held a tour of their pump station near Hartington, Nebraska for media and some community members.
Cory Goulet President of Keystone Projects for Trans Canada says it is a good milestone for the company.
There have been fourteen documented spills of crude oil from the pipeline since it began operations. Goulet says the bulk of those were soon after the line began moving oil.
Goulet says only one of those spills pushed oil beyond the border of their pump station.
The line today is moving over four hundred thousand barrels of oil a day.
