This week the U.S. Senate failed to approve construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. Earlier the House approved the project. Nebraska rancher Randy Thompson of Martel who’s fighting the pipeline with a case now in the hands of the Nebraska Supreme Court expects the new Congress to vote again on the project early next year.
Thompson says the recent Congressional votes on the project were just a political sham.
Thompson says he and other opponents of the project are now hoping they’ll be supported by the President. He also says if the new Congress moves forward to approve Keystone XL,that could end up in court.
60 votes were needed for Senate passage this week and the measure fell one vote short with 59 voting in favor and 41 against.
