Wheat milling customers from the Philippines are visiting the United States this week. The five Philippine milling customers are touring wheat production areas and will be in North Dakota, Kansas, Oregon and Washington. U.S. Wheat Associate’s Steve Mercer says they’ll be getting a full rundown of America’s wheat industry.
The Philippines is the fifth largest market for U.S. wheat and America has 90 percent of that country’s market share. Mercer says U.S. wheat has been a big part of the Filipino milling and baking industry for more than 50 years.
Mercer says the Filipino group will also take a look at West Coast ports where the product is shipped overseas. He says the millers will be in the U.S. until August 16.
