Over 400 exhibitors, hundreds of farmers and ranchers and even agriculture celebrities attended the annual DakotaFest in Mitchell, SD. One of the show visitors, hailing from Assaria, KS, is the nationally-known Peterson Farm Brothers hosted by the Farm Bureau Financial Services team.

The brothers’ first Youtube video was posted 13 years ago, a parady called “I’m Farming and I Grow It,” and quickly went viral with 5 million views. Now that same video is at over 12 million views. That first video success sparked an entire series of viral farming video paradies and eventually took the brothers on the road to speak at a variety of events.

Greg Peterson, a graduate of Kansas State University, says that their message revolves around advocacy and practical ways for fellow farmers to share their stories.

“We’re basically just sharing our story… we were just three normal Kansas farm kids and we never thought we’d be doing something like this,” Peterson said. “But we took the initiative and stepped out of our comfort zone to make an impact which has led to all kinds of opportunities for us and advocacy is still the primary motivation for us.”
