U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue has released short list of possible office locations for the USDA’s Economic Research Service and National Institute of Food and Agriculture. It includes Purdue University in Indiana, the greater Kansas City area and the Triangle area of North Carolina. Center for Rural Affairs Policy Director Jonathan Hladik is restating their opposition to relocating the offices from the nation’s capital.

He says they see no benefit to moving ERS and NIFA employees out of Washington D.C.

Hladik says many jobs are at stake if the offices are moved and it will also take time to recover and be able to deliver services efficiently.

Secondary choices are Madison, Wisconsin and St. Louis, Missouri.
