The Propane Education and Research Council is reminding Northern Plains producers to plan well in advance of harvest season to ensure they have enough access to propane this fall. PERC’s Agriculture and Business Development Director Mike Newland says current propane supplies are looking good however corn and soybean plantings are up substantially compared to last year. He says the good news now is that conditions are dryer than last year.
He says current conditions seem to indicate there will be less propane needed per bushel when harvest rolls around.
Newland says PERC has a propane tracking grain drying calculator available that producers can access to help them plan for their propane needs during harvest.
Newland says the good news is there isn’t likely to be an increase in demand for home heating this harvest season but he does encourage producers to establish a strong line of communication with their propane suppliers.
