Former University of Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini is leaving Youngstown State to become the defensive coordinator for national champion LSU.
Pelini, a native of Youngstown, had been the head coach of the Penguins the past five years. He had a record of 33-28 including a trip to the FCS national championship game in 2017.
His career mark of 100-55 includes seven seasons as head coach of the Huskers.
He joins Ed Orgeron’s staff at LSU after Dave Aranda left as DC to take the head coaching job at Baylor.
Pelini was defensive coordintor at LSU from 2005-2007 before taking over at Nebraska.
