The Yankton City Commission this week approved a pay raise for police officers which would be above and beyond the increase all city workers got.

City Manager Amy Leon says pay for Yankton police is ranked eighth among comparable cities in the state…..

Leon says there will be higher pay for night and weekend shifts..

Leon says there will be some budget adjustments…

Starting pay for police officers in Yankton is now just over forty-five thousand dollars a year, while a starting officer in Mitchell is paid just over fifty thousand dollars.
