The latest survey of groundwater in Nebraska shows drought several years ago is still impacting water levels.
The report from the state Conservation and Survey Division compared 5200 wells from the spring of 2016 to spring 2017.
Survey geologist Aaron Young says the High Plains Aquifer’s levels are below average.
Young says Nebraska is doing better than other states.
Young says the five-year average shows a decline of nearly two feet, due to the 2012 drought.
