Parole Jumper Leads Police on Chase from Yankton into Nebraska

Late Thursday afternoon, Yankton Police made an attempt to stop a parole jumper in Yankton. Yankton Police Chief Brian Paulsen, in a release, says the vehicle the suspect was driving, fled from the Yankton Police Department and went into Nebraska. The vehicle was stopped after spike strips were deployed near Lynch Nebraska. The driver, was identified as a James Lee Colman of Yankton and the passenger was Jarvis Bason of Sioux Falls.

Colman was charged with multiple felonies; aggravated eluding, aggravated assault on an Officer, parole absconder, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of Controlled Substance. The passenger (Jarvis) was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance and on a Parole Hold.

This incident included the Yankton Police Department, Yankton County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol, Cedar County Sheriff’s Officer, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Boyd County Sheriff’s Office and the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.
