The National Pork Board has announced its four finalists for the 2016 Pig Farmer of the Year award. A pair of South Dakota pork producers, Craig Andersen of Centerville and Brad Greenway from Mitchell are on the list. Greenway says he’s humbled and honored to be considered for the award.
The other two finalists are Jarrod Bakker of Dike, Iowa and Maria Mauer of Greensburg, Indiana. Greenway says there are many producers doing a lot to support the pork industry and he’s happy to be part of that.
Greenway says he’s just gone through the interview process and that the Pork Board will name a winner next month.
The Pig Farmer of the Year program honors a U.S. pig farmer each year who excels at raising pigs using the pork industrie’s WE CARE ethical principles and is committed to sharing their story with the public.
