Over the past year or so hundreds of painted rocks have shown up in state parks. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Assistant Division Administrator Bob Hanover says people are painting rocks with a picture, message or symbol and on the other side there is a hashtag message. Thousands of residents have joined social media groups dedicated to finding and re-hiding these rocks as a sort of a game. The Commission is asking people to stop this practice for several reasons.
Hanover says the rocks are showing up in parks all over the state.
Hanover says Game and Parks has a leave no trace concept.
