South Dakota pork producers gather in Sioux Falls for their 2015 state convention Wednesday and Thursday. Speaking on the opening day of the event is National Pork Producer Council’s Director of Industry Relations Dallas Hockman. He’ll be focusing on packer audits which are based on the pork quality assurance program.
Hockman says one of their major goals with packer audits is to make sure they’re more all encompassing and can be used by both producers and processors.
Hockman says they’ve come up with a good packer audit system that should benefit everyone.
Hockman says NPPC has an on going commitment to the packer audits and also requiring that producers do on farm assessments with their ag extension specialist or local veterinarian.
