Nebraska Lawmakers failed to override Governor Pete Ricketts and his 56-Million dollars in line-item budget vetoes will stand.
Senator Mike Groene of North Platte tells colleagues they could have avoided the confrontation if they simply would have cut more. . .
Not so, according to Senator Matt Hansen of Lincoln, who says the governor could have cut elsewhere in the budget. . .
In the end, opponents of the cuts couldn’t muster the 30 votes needed to override the vetoes.
