A review of large scale studies published in the Journal of the Osteopathic Association calling out meat for a host of mortality causes. The review done by the Mayo Clinic in Arizona is titled ”Is Meat Killing Us”. It advises doctors to tell their patients to limit animal products and consume more plants than meat. North American Meat Institutes Vice President of Scientific Affairs Betsy Boreen says the review contains a lot of misinformation and leaves out meat’s health benefits.

She says meat has several benefits for most Americans and even for people with various illnesses.

Boreen says it’s important to respond calmly to these reports and make sure the correct information gets out.

Boreen adds that the recent Dietary Guidelines highlight the health benefits of meat in the diet.
