A group opposed to the “Gregory County Pumped Storage Power Project” is working with federal regulators.

David Swift of Burke says they are using rules from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission dealing with the proposed project…..

Mid American Energy and Missouri River Energy Services has proposed building a large reservoir and hydro plant on the west bank of the Missouri River southwest of Platte to provide peak power production.

Swift says they have concerns about the impacts to their rural water system….

Swift says there could be other impacts to the river and Lake Francis Case….

The project could cost up to a billion dollars and take ten years to build. Swift says despite that, they feel they have only about two years to stop the project.
