Open House for Yankton’s Next Top Cop

An open house was held Wednesday evening for the two candidates to be Yankton’s next Police Chief.

Commanders Jason Foote and Todd Brandt are the finalists to replace retiring Chief John Harris. Foote has been with the department since 1997, while Brandt joined in 1994.

Foote says policing should be close to the community….

Brandt says he has worked his way up through the department…

Foote says he has been encouraged to seek out leadership…

Brandt says he feels great public support for the police department…

City Manager Amy Leon says she hopes to make a decision and job offer next week.
