Saturday will mark the one year anniversary of the first Ebola virus patient arriving at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha. Biocontainment Medical Director Dr. Phil Smith says the unit prepared for ten years for that opportunity to help someone in need. He took time to praise his staff for their dedication and hard work.
Smith says they are now a leader in Ebola virus education and care.
The biocontainment unit also housed four health care workers exposed to the virus earlier this year. None developed the illness.
