The 2015 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Postseason Men’s Soccer Tournament completed quarterfinal action on Tuesday with the one, two, four and six seeds all posting wins.
On the top half of the bracket Hastings, the top seed and regular season champion, defeated 8th seed Nebraska Wesleyan 2-1. Doane, the 4th seed, needed overtime to take care of the 5th seed Morningside. The lone upset of the first round saw Concordia, the 6th seed, down 3rd seed Northwester 1-0. Midland, the 2nd seed, was victorious 2-1 over 7th seed Dakota Wesleyan.
In semifinal action on Saturday, November 7, Doane will travel to Hastings to take the top seeded Broncos and second seed Midland will host Concordia. Both games are schedule to kickoff at 7 pm.
The winner of the GPAC Tournament will advance, as the league’s only automatic representative, to the NAIA National Men’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round (on Saturday, November 21). The GPAC is allotted one automatic berth because the conference is below 12 NAIA teams in the postseason (10 teams).
Sixteen teams will advance to the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Final Site in Delray Beach, Florida, November 30 – December 5, 2015, at the Seacrest Soccer Complex.
