One of the nation’s largest fentanyl seizures was made this week in Omaha. 27-year-old Edgar Navarro-Aguirre of California was taken into custody after the nearly 15 kilos, or 33 pounds of the deadly drug was found in his possession at the Amtrak train station in Omaha. Lt. Jason Scott is with the Nebraska State Patrol.
Scott says they did a rough tabulation of the street value of the drugs.
This is the largest fentanyl seizure in Nebraska’s history and one of the largest in the nation. It is believed that the drugs were headed east to New Jersey or New York. Fentanyl is 40 to 50 times more potent than heroin and the amount found at the train station could have claimed millions of lives.
