In the late days of the 2014 session, South Dakota lawmakers agreed to give one million dollars to the Lewis & Clark Regional Water Project. Construction on the multimillion dollar project has stalled due to a lack of federal funding.

Troy Larson, Executive Director of Lewis & Clark says they didn’t expect any money this year…

Larson says they have not yet officially plugged in the money to their planning…

Larson says the appropriation could be used as a lever to get more federal funding…

The project, which is supposed to pump water from wells near Vermilion to towns and cities in Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota, is about seventy percent complete, and years behind schedule.
