One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday morning, eight miles west of Wolsey, S.D.

Names of the two people involved are not being released until families are notified.

A 1998 Ford F150 was traveling east on U.S. Highway 14 when it crossed the center line and struck a westbound semi-truck trailer. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck trailer sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to the Huron hospital.

The driver of the semi-truck trailer was wearing a seatbelt. The pickup driver was not.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate. Other agencies responding to the scene were Beadle County Sheriff’s Office, Wolsey Fire and Wolsey Ambulance.

The Highway Patrol is part of the state Department of Public Safety.
