One Killed in Beadle County Accident

One person died and another person was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon east of Wessington.

Names of the two male drivers are not being released pending notification of families. They were the only people involved in the crash.

A 1992 Chevrolet C1500 pickup was westbound on U.S. Highway 14 when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2009 Ford F-150 pickup.

The 25-year-old driver of the Chevrolet pickup was transported by ambulance to the Huron hospital and then airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where he later died of his injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The other driver, 28, received minor injuries and was not transported to a hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were the Beadle County Sheriff’s Office, Wolsey Fire and Ambulance and Wessington Fire and Ambulance.
