One Drowns in Sioux Falls Lake

At approximately 8:15 Saturday night, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was dispatched to Covell Lake for the report of a drowning. When fire crews arrived on scene they located several life guards from Terrace Park swimming pool searching in the lake for the victim. The life guards successfully rescued one victim and brought him to shore safely. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue along with Minnehaha County Emergency Management, and the South Dakota Game Fish & Parks Department searched the area where the second victim was last seen. Shortly before midnight, crews located the drowning victim who, unfortunately had perished. The name of the victim is not being released at this time, pending family notification.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 4 fire trucks, 1 command vehicle and 1 fire Chaplain. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue was also supported by: Patient Care Logistics Solutions, the Sioux Falls Parks Department, and Sioux Falls Police.
