A 56-year-old male died Monday in a semi-truck and trailer crash five miles north of Marion, S.D.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family. He was the driver and only person involved in the crash.

A 2012 International Prostar semi-truck and trailer was northbound on 447th Avenue when the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The truck and trailer tipped over and rolled before both started on fire.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown whether he was a wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is the lead investigating agency. Other agencies on scene were Marion Ambulance, Marion and Parker Fire Department and Turner County Sheriff’s Office.
