One Dies in Grant County After Falling from Moving Vehicle

A 16-year-old male died Sunday morning after falling off the hood of a moving vehicle near Milbank.

Names of the people involved are not being released pending notification of families.

The male was riding on the hood of a 2001 Dodge Intrepid which was going westbound on 146th Street. The rider’s foot got caught on the front bumper and he was dragged under the vehicle.

After being taken first by ambulance to the Milbank hospital, the person was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital where he later died.

The 16-year-old male driver of the vehicle was not injured. Charges are pending against him through the state’s attorney’s office.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
