One Dies in Charles Mix County Accident

One man died in a two-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning near Wagner.

The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family.

A 2008 Chevy Impala was eastbound on 295th Street when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign located at the intersection with 401st Avenue. The vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup that was southbound on 401st Avenue.

Pronounced dead at the scene was the 54-year-old driver of the Impala. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The 57-year-old male driver of the pickup, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. He was transported via ambulance to the Wagner hospital.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Other agencies on scene were Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office, Wagner Police Department and Wagner Ambulance.
