One Dead in Turner County Crash

One person died Monday night in a two-vehicle crash north of Chancellor.

The names of the two people involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2008 Chevrolet Colorado pickup was eastbound on 276th Avenue when the driver failed to stop at the intersection with 461st Avenue. The pickup collided in the intersection with a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan that was northbound on 461st Avenue.

The 18-year-old male driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The 62-year-old male driver of the Grand Caravan sustained serious non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a Sioux Falls hospital.

Seatbelt use for both drivers has not yet been determined.

South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
