One Dead in Cedar County Accident

The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of Highway 12 and the 14A Spur in Cedar County about 10:30 Thursday morning.
A Ford Edge driven by 48 year old Kristopher Arens of Fordyce NE failed to yield to an eastbound Peterbilt semi-truck driven by 61 year old Jonathan Kelly of Livingston MT. Arens, the only occupant of the Ford Edge, was pronounced dead at the scene. Arens was not wearing his seatbelt.
Kelly, the only occupant of the Peterbilt, was treated and released at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton SD.
The accident remains under investigation by the Cedar County Sheriff’s Office.
Fordyce Fire, Hartington Fire and Rescue, Nebraska State Patrol, Nebraska Game and Parks, and the Nebraska Department of Roads assisted at the scene.
