A 52-year-old man died Monday in a one-vehicle crash west of Plankinton.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family.
A 2004 Toyota Sequoia was westbound on Interstate 90 when the driver lost control. The vehicle rolled across the median, coming to rest in the eastbound lanes of the interstate.
The eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 were shut down for several hours due to the crash, and traffic was rerouted.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
Five other occupants of the vehicle were also wearing seatbelts.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
