There is another option for those with health insurance policies that were issued prior to January 1, 2014. Tom Gilsdorf is the Director of Product Development for Blue Cross Blue Shield Nebraska and says those plans, even if they are not in compliance with the Affordable Care Act, will be honored until October 1, 2016.

Since the federal marketplace went online in October, nearly 43-thousand Nebraskans have enrolled for health care. More than 74-thousand were eligible.

Gilsdorf says there is one catch.

Gillsdorf says Nebraskans should weigh their options carefully before deciding which plan best suits their needs and affordability.
