The official Census 2020 population numbers are due to be released next week and that will trigger redistricting committees.

Senator Tom Briese of Albion is on the Nebraska Legislatures Committee and says there will be an effort to preserve rural districts..

One projection shows a majority of the forty nine legislative districts could end up in the Omaha – Lincoln area.

Briese says they want a fair redistricting plan…

Briese says they can only have a difference of plus or minus five percent from district to district…

A special session of the legislature will be held later this fall to approve the new legislative and Congressional districts.
