Organization for Competitive Market members are gathering in Kansas City this weekend for their Annual Food and Agriculture Conference. Executive Director Joe Maxwell says one of their primary topics of discussion will center around concerns of the recent mega mergers in the seed chemical industry.

He says another major concern is the concentration in the livestock industry which is having a negative effect on independent producers as well as consumers.

Maxwell says at the conference on Friday they’ll be announcing the forming of a new lobbying group to represent them in pushing for more competitive markets.

The conference is in Kansas City Friday and Saturday with their annual membership meeting on Sunday.
