A Northwest Iowa rendering company was kept busy during last week’s three -day heat wave, hauling over 400 dead livestock carcasses. Tim Post of Sioux Valley Rendering in Rock Valley says the number of dead cattle ranged from between 200 and 300 head in Sioux, Lyon and Plymouth counties.

He says they also hauled close to 150 dead hogs.

Post says last week’s livestock death losses from the heat and humidity were the worst he’s seen in many years.

Post says the heat-induced livestock losses were the most business he’s had since he started his rendering company.
