A bill that would give nurse practitioners more freedom has moved forward in the Nebraska Unicameral.
Senator Sue Crawford of Bellevue sponsored a bill that would remove current restrictions on nurse practitioners in under-served areas of the state. . .
Few oppose the bill. A similar measure passed unanimously last year, but the legislature ran out of time to attempt an over-ride of Governor Dave Heineman’s veto.
Senator Les Seiler of Hastings cautions senators against believing nurse practitioners can replace the family doctors expected to retire in the next few years. . .
The bill advanced on a 35-to-2 vote.
