The trapping season is well underway in Iowa and state furbearer biologist, Vince Evelsizer, says the numbers for racoons, muskrats, beaver, mink, otter, bobcats and coyotes all looked strong heading into the season.
Trapping in Iowa peaked in 2013 with almost 21-thousand licenses, and then dropped to 14-thousand-500 by 2016. Evelsizer says the license numbers have stayed about the same this year.
Evelsizer says there were no major changes in the furbearer trapping regulations this year.
