Nebraska Cattlemen Association officials are already preparing for the 2019 session of the Unicameral. One of the issues they’re focusing on is any potential measures dealing with nuisance lawsuits over confined animal feeding operations. Laura Field, Vice President of Legislative Affairs for the Nebraska Cattlemen Association says they’ve been watching the recent litigation in North Carolina as well as discussions concerning the new COSTCO poultry facility in Nebraska.

She says they’ll also try and get State Senators to pass some property tax relief legislation as that remains one of their group’s main priorities.

Field says with term limits, one of their challenges will be educating the new group of Senators coming in.

Nebraska’s 2019 state legislative session is less than three months away.
