NSIC Teams Get Bids

Four men’s basketball teams from the Northern Sun Conference and two women’s squads from the NSIC have gotten bids to the NCAA Division Two Central Region tournaments.

Southwest Minnesota State (26-5) earned the second seed in the tournament and will take on seventh seed of Arkansas Tech out of the GAC. Augustana (23-8) was the fifth seed and will take on Arkansas-Monticello from the GAC.  MSU Moorhead (24-5), the sixth seed, will battle the third seed of East Central out the GAC while Upper Iowa (22-10) earned the eighth seed and will take on the host of the central region,  Northwest Missouri State of the MIAA.

For the women, MSU Moorhead  (24-4) will be the third seed while Northern State (24-6) will be the eighth seed.

MSUM will open the tournament versus the sixth seed of Central Missouri out of the MIAA.  Northern State will take on the top seed of Emporia State (MIAA) in the first round in Searcy, Arkansas.

The women’s tourney begins Friday and the men will play Saturday.
