The top five post season Northern Sun Conference league awards for men’s basketball are spread among players from five schools.
NSIC Player of the Year
#24 Tyler Rudolph (F, 6-6, 240, Sr., Bismarck, N.D. / Century HS) – Minot State
– Led Minot State in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage
– Ranks third in the NSIC averaging 20.9 points per game
NSIC Defensive Player of the Year
#24 Gable Smith (F, 6-7, 211, R-Jr., Lodi, Wis. / Lodi HS) – Minnesota Crookston
– Led all of NCAA Division II with 109 blocks (3.9 blocks per game)
NSIC Freshman of the Year
#20 Joe Smoldt (G, 6-0, 175, Fr., Reinbeck, Iowa / Gladbrook-ReinbeckHS) – Upper Iowa
– Started 19 of the 22 NSIC games this season averaging 14.4 points per game
NSIC Newcomer of the Year
#4 Trevon Evans (G, 6-0, 175, Jr., Wichita, Kan. / Eisenhower HS / Dodge City CC) – Sioux Falls
– Finished second in the NSIC with 22.3 points per game in league play, 21.4 overall
NSIC Coach of the Year
Paul Sather – Northern State
– Led the Wolves to their first NSIC Overall Championship in 15 years and first North Division Championship in program history
– Posted a 27-3 record overall and 20-2 mark in league action in the regular season
