NSIC Releases Baseball Poll

Minnesota State University, Mankato was the top pick in the 2015 NSIC Preseason Baseball Coaches’ Poll.

This marks the sixth year in a row the Mavericks have been picked to win the league. Minnesota State amassed 194 points after receiving 12 first place votes. St. Cloud State was second as they had 172 points and a first place vote. Augustana was picked third with 170 points, while Winona State was fourth with 166 points and two first place votes.  Southwest Minnesota State rounds out the top five with its 128 points.

The preseason coaches’ poll is based off each coach ranking each team from 14 to 1 with the top team receiving 14 points, second 13, third 12, etc (coaches can’t vote for their own team).

The baseball season gets underway on January 31 with NSIC play beginning on March 21.

The 2015 NSIC Baseball Tournament will take the top eight teams in the final NSIC Standings. The double elimination tournament takes place May 6-9 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
