The Northern Sun Conference has named its Players of the Year in basketball with a pair of stars performing in Sioux Falls earning the awards.

NSIC Player of the Year
#34 Dan Jansen (C, 6-9, 240, Sr.,  Orange City, Iowa / MOC-Floyd Valley HS)
Augustana University
– For the second straight season Daniel Jansen has been named the NSIC Player of the Year
– Averaged 20.0 points and 8.4 rebounds starting all 22 conference games and playing 28 minutes per game
– Finished the NSIC season ranked fourth in scoring and rebounding
– Averaged 2.0 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.5 blocks per game in NSIC play
– Led the team in scoring in seven of 22 conference games and scored 20 or more points in 11 games, including a season-high 31 at Upper Iowa on Jan. 23
– Recorded seven of his 10 double-doubles in conference play
– Had two or more steals in seven NSIC games and dished out three or more assists in seven contests
– Was named NSIC South Division Player of the Week four times during the season tying the NSIC record for player of the week awards during one season

#3 Taylor Varsho (G, 5-7, Sr., Chili, Wis./ Marshfield HS)
University of Sioux Falls
 – Averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists during conference play
– Scoring average ranked second in NSIC in both conference-only and overall games
– Scored in double figures in 20 of 22 conference games, scored more than 20 points eight times, and over 30 points twice
– Set a career-high of 30 points twice during the season in victories over Minot State (Dec. 11) and Minnesota Crookston (Feb. 5)
– Recorded two double-doubles with 17 points and 10 rebounds against U-Mary and 15 points and 11 rebounds at MSU Moorhead
– Led NSIC with 81 made 3-pointers on eighth-best shooting percentage at 39.3 percent
– Made 101 total 3-pointers this season, the third-most in NCAA Division II
– Hit at least one 3-pointer in all 22 conference games and is currently on a streak of 38 straight games with at least one made 3-pointer
– Tallied 35 steals, 1.6 per game, in conference season and 47 total steals in the regular season
– Named NSIC player of the week three times
