The reigning NSIC/Sanford Health and NCAA Central Region Tournament Champions of Concordia-St. Paul were selected as the 2014-15 NSIC Women’s Basketball Preseason Coaches’ favorite.

The Golden Bears received 216 points and 10 first place votes to edge out defending NSIC Champions of Wayne State by three points.  However, the Wildcats were the coaches’ coach in the NSIC South Division as they had 47 points and five first place votes.  CU was a close second in the south with 43 points and the other three first place votes.  Northern State was third in the overall poll and was the unanimous choice in the NSIC North Division.  Minnesota State (192) was fourth followed by Augustana (132) in fifth in the overall poll.

NSIC coaches rank each team from 1 to 15 with a first place vote receiving 15 points, second place 14, third place 13, etc. Coaches do not rank their own team or vote for their own players.

The regular season champion will be based on the 22-game NSIC schedule.  Each team will play teams in their division twice (14) and teams in the other division once (8).  An NSIC North and South Division Champion will also be awarded.  Divisional standings will also be based on all 22 NSIC contests played.  In the case of a tie, co-champions will be awarded. The 16-team NSIC / Sanford Health Women’s Basketball Tournament Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Championships are set to take place Sat. Feb. 28 and Mon.-Tues., March 2-3 at the Sanford Health Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.  First round games will be played on the campus of the top eight seeds on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
