Sunflower harvest is progressing well across the country with about half of it completed in the Dakotas and about 40 percent overall. National Sunflower Association Executive Director John Sandbakken says it’s also looking like the best sunflower crop in the nation in the past five years.

He says South and North Dakota and Minnesota are all seeing above average sunflower yields this fall.

Sandbakken says weather was much better this year over last year and there was little to no disease or insect pressure.

Sandbakken says while producers are busy harvesting they’re also looking ahead to next year and prices have been good for both New Sun and High Oleic sunflowers.
